History and GitHub
Compare versions, restore project files, and push source to your GitHub account.
Restore points and differences
History lists saved versions of your source files. Select a version to inspect added, removed, and modified files. Save a manual restore point before a significant change when you want a recognizable recovery point.
Restoring puts the working files back to a selected version. The current files are saved first. Inspect the resulting preview before publishing; restoration is not an automatic replacement of the live site.
Download source as a ZIP
Use the download action in History to export source from the selected restore point. Keep the archive when you need an offline copy or want to inspect the project outside ion7.
Connect and push to GitHub
- Open the GitHub controls and connect your own GitHub account.
- Complete the authorization window; allow pop-ups if the browser blocks it.
- Create a repository or link an available existing repository and branch.
- Push the project and check the reported result.
- Open the repository to verify the files and commit arrived.
Automatic push can send subsequent saved versions to the linked branch. Check the last push result and any error shown in the GitHub panel.
One-way synchronization
GitHub integration pushes from ion7 to GitHub. Changes made directly on GitHub are not pulled back into the ion7 editor. If the remote branch moves independently, a push can be rejected to avoid overwriting work.
